A lot has been discussed about freedom, and why not . Freedom is not a matter of choice, its one's birthright. From the inception of mankind freedom has been the epicenter of human activities . . . Innumerable wars has been waged to either increase the so called free land or defend the free land. Take any invention - good or bad( i know there is no invention as bad, its the use thats bad), has been done because human being wanted to be free in one sense or other.
Wheel was invented because man wanted freedom from walking, tiredness. Bows and arrow were invented so that man is free from the pain he took in running behind the prey. Law/rules came in to picture so that human being is free to live his life without nobody's interference.. . . . . and so on .....
so the question arises : what is freedom.
dictionary meaning says :
1. The condition of being free of restraints
2. A right or the power to engage in certain actions without control or interference
logical ??
In that sense .... who is the one i can tag as free ??? a flying bird ?? a moving snake ??? or lets say was Alexander the great - king of the world free ??? was Vasco de Gama - great explorer free ???? ......... leave all them was Adam - the first man on earth free?? ...........
The great Mahatma Gandhiji, who led world'd biggest non violent army to freedom failed to hold the same group of humans when they parted on the basis of religion. They were the same people who heard him and gave their lives just like that - without retaliating. . . and they were the same people who ignored him the next day of their freedom. . . . why ??? ....... probably Indians were so desperate to be termed as free, they were not ready to listen to any adjustments. Eventually that freedom tied both countries in so many issues that they will never be free of each other.
Democracy is one school of thought were there is so called freedom of speech - - - freedom till you finish the speech. . . the next thing you realize is you are dragged and tied up into so many controversies that you tend to forget the difference between democracy and autocracy. . . . .
Is a dog in the house less free from a dog on the road ??? then what about the freedom from hunger enjoyed by the pet dog compared to street dog ?? is a businessman more free compared to a guy working for a company ?? is a single more free than a couple ??? is live in relation ship more free than a marriage ?? is an atheist more free than a believer ???
i don't think there is an answer to above questions.
The reason is that . . . . . Freedom is not Free ...... Yes , there is nothing that sets you or any creature free. Freedom comes with its own boundaries. Boundaries which one will have to follow to enjoy being free. In fact boundaries and restrictions are the essence of any freedom.
Freedom should be handled with care if it has to last long.
